Biography

Tsotne was born and raised in the Republic of Georgia. He moved to the US at the age of 12 with his family. He graduated from the Catholic University of America with a degree in Electrical Engineering and immediately started a PhD program with a focus on antennas and wave propagation. In spring 2019, he transferred to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and his research interests include reading, exploring and exercising.


  • Precise Indoor Localization System - using machine learning, increase the accuracy of an indoor positioning system to millimeter range
  • Antenna Array Nulling - place nulls in the radiation pattern of an antenna array in the direction of an unwanted signal using bio-inspired mininization technique
  • Drone-Based Reconfigurable Antenna System - using the degrees of freedom enabled by flight, synthesize a mechanically reconfigurable antenna system capable of steering the radiation pattern as dictated by the application
